Dead Creek by Victoria Houston is the second in the Loon Lake Fishing Mysteries series. Fishing is a way of life in the Northwoods of Wisconsin, but when Doc Osborne catches something unexpected, he becomes the center of a murder mystery that only Chief of Police Lew Ferris can reel him out of. Apparently this book is part of a series but this was my first introduction to the series or Victoria Houston. I want to start off by saying that Dead Tease had potential which is why I chose to read it. The premise-a young, attractive hospital marketing rep Jen Williams, is murdered in a small-town.

Dead Tease is a great suspense novel that out produces the title by not only teasing but delivering. A great story line that was easy to follow yet complex enough to keep you guessing. The story is full of creative and engaging characters like Police Chief Lewellyn "Lew" Ferris and Dr. Paul "Doc" Osborne who work together to solve this mystery. Editorial Reviews. Reading Houston’s spare 12th Loon Lake mystery (after ’s Dead Deceiver) is like listening to a raconteur catching you up on the rural Wisconsin community, complete with contextual interjections and regionalisms (e.g., “razzbonya,” local vernacular for nincompoop). The stabbing murder of Jen Williams, a young woman of easy virtue who just had an afternoon tryst. Victoria Houston's series involves Wisconsin, fish, murder, and fly-fishing. Strictly speaking you do not need to care a bit about fly fishing - the sport is there, aficionados will be teased by the champion muskies and handtied flies but those who prefer their fish cleaned and cooked can still enjoy it. Especially in the company of Ray Pradt.
